We understand the thought of changing your health, fitness and over all well being can be a very daunting task. But hey, that’s why we are here to guide you in the right direction. 

By applying these 5 steps, you will definitely be on the right path and you’ll gain some serious improvements from each and every one of them. 

We advise picking 1 or 2 of these a week and every week after that until you’ve crushed all 5. Or, if you’re like me, do all 5 immediately. I am an all or nothing guy.

1. PURGE YOUR KITCHEN

We all know that any fitness plan is useless without a good diet. As we tell our clients all the time, “We cannot out coach a bad diet.” 

Rid your kitchen of all processed foods and anything that contains “fake” ingredients, added sugars, or artificial sweeteners. If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it!

Many people make big claims and multiple promises to themselves. Instead of saying “I will eat more vegetables”, say “I will have asparagus with my chicken tonight.” Be specific and choose one thing that you will change this week, for example, “stop drinking soda” is an attainable goal that you can succeed at. Next week, choose something else.

2. PRINT A WORKOUT CALENDAR

Treat this task as you would any other priority. As you plan your workweek and family schedule, commit to the days and times you reserve for exercise. Be realistic with the time you have. A great workout can be completed in 25 minutes. 

Write it down!

It is scientifically proven that you will hold yourself more accountable if you actually take the time to write down what it is you want to accomplish. 

Taking that even a step further, you will be much more likely to accomplish the task if you put it out for all to see, ex: on your fridge.

3. FOOD JOURNAL

Speaking of writing things down…recording your food and beverage intake each day, no really, EVERYTHING you eat or drink can be very eye opening for many people. This is the simplest way to get a handle on calorie and macro nutrient intake for the day and make adjustments. You never knew how many carbs were in that banana, did you?

4. ENLIST A FRIEND

Having a friend, spouse or partner who shares your goals can be a huge advantage to starting, and sticking with your fitness plan. Working out together can be very motivating in the gym and in the kitchen, too.

5. JOIN A “SMALL BOX” GYM
